Weeks go by and emotions follow one another! Author of an excellent month of July, today we take the wheel of Quebec sprintor/puncheuse Joséphine Pélinquin. A raw talent with her head on her shoulders since the young athlete is pursuing a Bachelor in Business Administration with a double specialization in urban management and finance at Laval University. New episode, new runner and always with the girls of the Grand-Est - Komugi - La Fabrique team.
This is one of the many sensations of the first continental year of the GEK formation. A podium on the criteria of the Tour of Berlin, a top 10 in class 1. in Belgium and often on the attack, Joséphine Pélunquin confirms her temperament and her talent on movement races: “J 'Likes to run offensively ». A mix of good performances since the Canadian national championship which arrives after a mixed start to the season according to her:
"I learned an awful lot about myself in the first half of the season. It was not at all as I wanted. At the start of the season, I put a lot of pressure on myself, and that pushed me to do too much in training. I was having a hard time dealing with my stress and I was feeling it physically and mentally. I fell a few times too and inevitably it plays on confidence. Looking back and talking to the right people, I come away from this period with a lot of learning. I am also very grateful for the support of the team. Despite a more difficult period, I always felt that I had my place in the collective working for other girls.

I think I'm on a good roll. When you have a few good performances, it gives a lot of confidence and this confidence, you necessarily bring it with you to the following races. I don't necessarily think I 've passed a physical milestone in 1 month, but I think I 've changed the way I approach races in the second half of the season and that's what makes a good difference. I feel much more serene and in control before the races and I also put a lot less pressure on myself. The return to Quebec in mid-season helped me a lot for that, I saw my friends and my family and it allowed me to pick up a bit, to think of something other than cycling. »
A united collective with a very good atmosphere on the bike and outside, these are also the ingredients for the success of an adventure in the good times, and the worst good times. Once the acclimation of the first races passed, the team was able to find its place in the peloton and now runs aggressively. This is also what we saw on the Tour de Charentes Maritime where the girls of the Grand Est - Komugi - La Fabrique team won the first places and the distinctive jerseys.

A whole family story! Competitive from an early age and in the footsteps of her father, it is in the ski that Joséphine hooks her first bib ( Laurence Saint-Germain Better watch out!). Before discovering cycling at the age of 15: "I was looking for a sport other than skiing to occupy my summers. A school friend invited me to my first club training and since that moment I have never stopped ". Present on French roads for two seasons now, she did not arrive alone from across the Atlantic since her little brother came in her suitcases (Léonard, he runs at Macadam's Cowboys, a club member of the Chef de File family): "Just to know that my brother is not far away and that I can count on him if I ever need it is reassuring. With our busy calendars, we don't often have a time to see each other, but when we can, we try to go and ride together ".
An arrival in Europe which also demonstrates all his motivation and his desire to make a name for himself in the peloton: "In North America, although a few girls can make a living from the bike, it's not a majority at all. The style of racing is also very different and I much prefer the European style ". But also all his motivation to continue this momentum and climb the ranks to climb one day in the World Tour! And thus show the extent of his talent in a flagship race of the calendar, the Strade Bianche. We can only agree to this choice, if only for the beauty of this magnificent region that is Tuscany. And we hope so, always with this beautiful jersey and the formidable project led by the staff of Laurent Goglione.
