We are already feeling a little nostalgic as we turn the page on the 2023/24 cyclo-cross season! This third year alongside our partner, the SebMotoBikes CX Team, has had some great emotions in store for us. The perfect opportunity to look back on some key moments of winter. Today we take the wheel of the young Frenchwoman Electa Gallezot! Author of a magnificent season where she was able to highlight the extent of her talent up to her title of French U23 champion and her chocolate medal among the Elites.
From Liv Wenzel 's Luxembourg tricolor jersey to Electa's French blue-white-red there is only one step! As soon as she was integrated into the team, as soon as she performed well, there were emotions within the SebMotoBikes CX Team this winter. Starting with the European title of the French team on the relay where the young Franche-Comté resident was able to sing La Marseillaise with her colleagues. Obviously, the highlight of her season remains her title of French U23 champion where she remained in the fight for a long time for the podium in the premier category, the Elites. Back with his words on his weekend in Camors:
“ It was crazy, it’s really a big accomplishment, probably even my best memory since I started cycling. This is clearly my best performance of my season. There is obviously a little bit of disappointment at not getting on the Elite podium but I have the title among the Espoirs, that's the main thing. »
Ultra regular throughout her winter with places of honor collected across the old continent in France, Switzerland and the Benelux, she recounts her winter:
“It went really well, sportingly I'm quite happy with myself, and especially with my progress, we worked well with my trainer. I'm already looking forward to next year! Humanly this season has brought me a lot of things. I am very well surrounded by the team and the atmosphere is really great, there is no pressure and it allows us to express ourselves fully. The moments spent with the French team were also great.
I think I have validated my goals. I had aimed for a podium at the French U23 championships and selection for the French team for the worlds, so it's done! I was just hoping for a little better in this last race, the worlds, but the form was not there, it happens. The relay with the French team at the European Championships was also something special, we all win together and it's full of emotions. »
Through her brothers, Electa quickly had the chance to immerse herself in the world of cycling. She even pinned her first bib very young, at the age of 7, where she “immediately loved competition ” . Now at the age of 19, she juggles mountain biking and cyclo-cross, but above all, Electa combines high-level sport and demanding studies:
“Study-wise it’s a bit complicated. I'm in my second year of medicine so it's obviously very demanding. I try to manage it as best as possible but it's not always easy, managing travel, training, classes... Especially since I'm really not sure of what I want to do later. But either way, I need to ride a bike to keep my balance. I also like to combine it all by spending time with my loved ones, doing other sports like climbing, running or skiing but also playing music! »
Stubborn and ambitious, she wants to continue to progress, dream bigger and aim for better international positions. And above all, the main thing, continue to be happy on a bike in two complementary disciplines like mountain biking and cyclo-cross without preferences for one. The winter cross season over, she can hang up her orange Leader of the SebMotoBikes CX Team and French champion tunics and concentrate on the mountain bike season. Happy 2024 Electa season!
